Reorganizing multiple mail accounts seemed like a better option and more useful as whenever one want to send mail you need the last set of conversations with people not the mail in data order.

So saving mail in folders organized by sender evolved. It worked out well and the main difficulties centered around handling the large amount of html mail efficiently so the program would not grow like a browser grows.

this was solved by limiting the linked images, the side effect was that the images were also available offline.

So  beta form, and tested, it doesn’t delete anything so no real damage can be caused.

The outcome is that checking for email and sending using this application is very fast. The html capability is using Ekit and very easy.

If you watch the windows task manager as you are using a browser it seems that it requires large amounts of memory for long html pages, MySpace for example. This use of space started impacting me when I subscribed to Participant Media and loading their mail pages into JEditorPane on my Java Mail app was causing heap space errors.

I don’t regard this as a bug but as issue that where heap space is limited needed to be controlled.

The solution which most mail programs adopt is to remove the linked jpegs and replace them with the Broken icon.

This is quite an easy task and to try and compromise on the view the user will have I allow the first few jpegs through so to speak. The heap problem goes away at least for the limited use in this application.

The code is as follows. It uses Matcher to locate the img and replaceAll to replace the links with either a local saved file or a Broken Icon which is a null link.
